Ethel Hutson Papers

Manuscripts Collection 14

1908-1922
3,714 items

This collection pertains to the public activities and interests of Ethel Hutson, a New Orleans journalist, artist, and women's rights activist. It is divided into two major divisions: woman suffrage and miscellaneous civic interests.

The Woman Suffrage material (c. 1910-1922) is separated into correspondence, manscripts, printed matter and news clippings. Most of the material pertains to the progress of woman's suffrage in Louisiana.

The second part of the collection (ca. 1910-1957) relates to Hutson's civic interests, including education, public utilities, child welfare, the preservation of the St. Louis Hotel, public finance and transportation. Correspondence in this section is arranged chronologically, but the manuscripts and clippings are arranged by matter.
