Garden
Library of the
New Orleans Town Gardeners
The Garden Library of
the New Orleans Town Gardeners is an extensive collection of published
works dealing with gardens, gardening and related subjects. Included are
practical works, theoretical treatises, histories, biographies, and
reference publications. The library contains well over 1,000 volumes representing approximately 800 titles.
Founded in 1983, the
library is a project of the New Orleans Town Gardeners, a New
Orleans garden club affiliated with the Garden
Club of America. The
purpose of the library is "to collect and preserve published works,
manuscripts, and other items pertaining to gardens and gardening,
particularly in New Orleans and the American Southeast; also to promote
and facilitate the use of such materials for educational purposes."
Books in the garden library
are searchable through the Tulane Library's
online catalog. The
garden library is
available to researchers during normal Architectural Archive hours.
