Schiro is on the top row, second from the left.

Schiro was very active in the Young Men’s Business Club of New Orleans.  In 1946,  he was the organization’s second vice-president.  Two years later in 1948, as president of the group, he joined with Mayor delesseps S. Morrison to lead a delegation of Crescent City businessmen to the state capitol in Baton Rouge to protest against Governor Earl K. Long’s attempt to control local government in New Orleans.  The demonstration marked Schiro’s introduction to politics.
