In 1950, Schiro ran on the Morrison ticket and won election to the New Orleans Commission Council.

If it's good for New Orleans, I'm for it!

Schiro always asserted that, if it were good for New Orleans, he was for it.  In 1953, he shaved off his famous moustache and portrayed Napoleon in the “Night in Old New Orleans Program” for the Spring Fiesta Association.
