Colcock family papers, 1785-1982 | Louisiana Research Collection

Scope and Contents: The Colcocks are a South Carolina family of cotton planters. Boxes 1-5 primarily consist of correspondence within the Colcock family, including Charles Jones Colcock, William F. Colcock, and Daniel de Saussure Colcock. There are also poems, slave records, appointments, genealogical material, speeches, articles on the sugar industry, diaries of William F. Colcock, and Hearings before the Committee on Ways and Means (57th Congress). The second part of the collection, Boxes 6-24, consists of genealogical research material on the Colcock family and related families, including correspondence, research notes, photocopies, genealogical charts, coats of arms, and material from the Huguenot Society of South Carolina.
