Scope and Contents: The Francisco Reibaud collection consists of letters and documents primarily related to Reibaud's time as Consul General for Mexico in New Orleans from the 1840s until his death in 1861. The correspondence was written by business associates and officials in Mexico and contains information about the political and military activities in the struggle between the conservative and liberal parties during a turbulent period in Mexico's history. There are citations and promotions in rank given to Reibaud during the 1830s when he served, as a Frenchman, in the Mexican navy as well. Also included are various bills and receipts as well as Reibaud's succession papers.
