Scope and Contents: The collection consists of the personal correspondence between George Whitfield Jack, Shreveport, and Edwin Lewis Stephens, Lafayette. Most of the letters from Jack pertain to family members, but they also contain references to Louisiana politics and his activities as United States District Judge, Western District of Louisiana. Edwin Lewis Stephens was the first president of the University of Southwestern Louisiana. There are also a few carbon copies of letters from Stephens to Jack as well as a few letters from William H. Jack to Stephens. There are also clippings, obituaries of Jack, a biographical sketch, and a book of poems by Ida J. Hall.
