Powell A. Casey papers, 1916-1965 | Louisiana Research Collection

Scope and Contents: The collection contains research notes and material about the Battle of New Orleans in 1815, including muster rolls, which were used for his Louisiana at the Battle of New Orleans (1965). In addition, the collection also focuses on Powell A. Casey's own experiences in World War II as a colonel in the Washington Artillery. There are research notes and material for the book, Try Us: The Story of the Washington Artillery in World War II (1971). Included in the collection are rosters, shipping lists, payrolls, Washington Artillery Veterans Association material, reminiscences, maps, Casey's military record, photographs, correspondence, as well as newspaper clippings.
