Scope and Contents: Letter written by Varina Davis (1826-1906) from her house, Beauvoir, in Mississippi, to Colonel Francis Winthrop Palfrey (1831-1889). Varina Davis speaks of sending books and other Jefferson Davis relics to New Orleans Confederate Memorial Hall. Mrs. Joseph Davis (Margaret Cary Green) will bring the items to Colonel Palfrey and Varina Davis requests that he consider Mrs. Joseph Davis for the job of assistant at the Memorial Hall.
