Scope and Contents: The collection consists of a letter from Thomas Jefferson, Monticello, to M. duPlantier, New Orleans dated 1808 September 24. The letter concerns the lands owned by the Marquis de Lafayette near New Orleans and Jefferson suggests a loan to pay for the drainage of the property. The other supporting materials in the collection include a letter from Mrs. L. Dolhonde, New Orleans, to Frank Howard, donating the Jefferson letter to the Howard Library, as well as a print of Jefferson, as well as a calling card of Mrs. Dolhonde.
