Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection consists of Corinne Chisholm Frost's correspondence, fragments of copies of correspondence with philosopher John Dewey, her own writings relating to her own philosophical views, as well as reference materials. Also included are materials produced while Frost attended the Famous Writers School.

Biographical Note

Corinne Chisholm Frost (1886-1971), was a schoolteacher most notable for her correspondence with the philosopher John Dewey. She donated two hundred pieces of correspondence with Dewey to Columbia University. In addition to her intense interests in philosophy and writing, Frost was an active participant in the American Red Cross, the Girl Scout Council, and the Council of Social Agencies. In 1963, she addressed the Thirteenth International Congress of Philosophy in Mexico City.
