Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection includes reports, correspondence, medical statistics, manuals, research papers, military reports, photographs, and pamphlets. Included are reports on public health and infectious disease in post-World War II Germany and Austria. There are also publications by Philip Beckjord.

Philip Beckjord was Battalion Commander of the 324th Medical Battalion of the 99th Infantry Division from 1942 until the end of World War II.

Biographical Note

Philip M. Beckjord was professor of public health administration at Tulane University. As a doctor in the United States Army during World War II, he reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was Battalion Commander of the 324th Medical Battalion of the 99th Infantry Division from 1942 until the end of World War II.
