Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection includes programs, newsletters, concert schedules, broadsides, advertisements, correspondence, sheet music, performance descriptions, and other records of the New Orleans early-music ensemble that specializes in performing music of the Medieval and Early Baroque periods. The collection document's the group's founding in 1966, when it was originally called The Woodvine Recorder Consort.

Biographical Note

The Musica da Camera is a New Orleans early-music ensemble that specializes in performing music of the Medieval and Early Baroque periods. Group was founded in 1966 by director Milton G. Scheuermann, Jr , when it was originally called The Woodvine Recorder Consort. Researching and performing the music of the 10th through 16th centuries. Using historically informed performance techniques and reproductions of period instruments, they also use their own musical transcriptions from original manuscript sources.
