Biographical Note

The Young Men's Business Club of Greater New Orleans was formed in 1919 by a group of young GIs returning to the area from World War I to form a Young Men's branch of the New Orleans Association of Commerce. They were refused entry and decided to form their own organization. The Young Men's Business Club prided itself on the diversity of backgrounds of its membership and the variety of sponsored activities. The organization saw itself as "completely autonomous; its actions are not controlled by any business segment, social class, income group, or age strata." Members of the Young Men's Business Club included Victor Schiro, F. Edward Hebert, and Russell Long.
