Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of correspondence of Giles, Inskeep, Hampton, and Leverich families, as well as documents of the Babin and Louis Landry families in Ascension Parish. There are several letters of Maria McLivaine Giles Inskeep (b. 1785) of New Orleans and Pass Christian, Mississippi to her sister Fanny Giles Hampton of Bridgeton, Comberland County, New Jersey. The collection also contains business records, notes, transcripts, newspaper clippings as well as a Book of Common Prayer.
