Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of manuscripts and galley proofs of articles published in Tulane Studies in Zoology during the 1950s to mid-1960s. In addition, there is correspondence related to the publication of the journal as well as correspondence that accompanies each individual article that consists of editorial comments on the manuscript and statements and recommendations of scholars to whom the manuscript was submitted by the editors.

Biographical Note

Tulane Studies in Zoology was a publication of the Tulane University Department of Zoology. It was devoted primarily to the zoology of the area bordering the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The publication was established in 1953 during Fred R. Cagle's tenure as Chairman of the Department of Zoology.
