Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of typescripts, clippings, illustrations, photographs, and genealogical material. There are magazine and newspaper articles on wallpaper collected by Floy Maddox that supplement her typescript about wallpaper. Similarly, there are magazine illustrations of silver collected by Ruth Maddox that supplement her master's thesis on old silver. Also included in the collection are materials about the French Quarter and Newcomb College. There are also Maddox family history items, including bible records, a book on the Maddox family, and a map.

Biographical Note

Floy and Ruth Maddox collected materials about the Newcomb Art Department and New Orleans. Floy Maddox wrote about the history of wallpaper. The Maddox family apparently originated in Maryland.
