Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection consists primarily of genealogical research material gathered by Elfer B. Miller that served as source material for his genealogical publications. There are individual files of family members from the Helfer/Elfer, Duffel, and Landry families. Printed material includes family histories of the Jacob Elfer (Helfer) family and his wife Mary Ann Haupmen of St. Charles and St. John the Baptist Parishes, as well as the Joseph Landry, Jr. (1752-1814) family and his wife, Elizabeth LeBlanc, both of Ascension Parish. Biographical Note

Elfer Buel Miller (1921-2001) lived in Peachtree City, Georgia and was married to Angela Miller. From intensive genealogical research, he authored five volumes of family history, including The Family of Jacob Helfer in Louisiana; Elfer: A Family of Farmers, Merchants, River People in Louisiana; and The Elfer Family of Maurice Helfer in Louisiana.
