Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of the professional and family papers of M.V. Haulard, engineer with the New Orleans Railway and Light Company from 1904 to 1922. Materials include correspondence, cost estimates, memos, bills, construction books, photographs and photograph albums, invitations, postcards, and memorial cards. There is also a volume entitled "Determination of the Earth's Horizontal Magnetic Component."

Biographical Note

Marcel Valentine Haulard was an engineer with the New Orleans Railway and Light Company from 1904 to 1922. He was later Municipal Repair Plant Superintendent during Robert Maestri's time as mayor of New Orleans (1936-1937). He belonged to and was secretary of the New Orleans Camera Club. He married Marie Hermance Brieugne (b. 1881), daughter of J.A. and Emma Craigg Brieugne, in New Orleans in 1907.
