The collection is arranged by topic and then chronologically. The materials are contained in one box and consist of half a linear foot. The constitution and by-laws are included in the collection, as well a list of past officers and meeting locations. There is a brief history of the organization as well as a description of the author, Dr. Eugene St. Martin, who complied much of the records from scattered sources.

The earliest annual meeting records in the collection are from 1950. The collection also has annual meeting material from every year after that until 2006. In addition, the collection contains photographs and correspondence from the society. There is also some material from the Texas Urological Society, as the Louisiana State Urological Society still maintains a relationship with that organization. The collection consists of 1 box, it is 0.5 linear foot.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

The Louisiana State Urological Society has been active since at least 1934 when Louisiana joined the American Urological Association. The society’s annual meetings are held around the state. Originally the organization represented Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas and their meetings rotated between the three states. Dr. Eugene St. Martin began the task of compiling records of past meetings and materials concerned with the Louisiana State Urological Society. He contacted past presidents and members who sent him their recollections and their remaining documents from the meetings and proceedings of the organization.

Biographical Note

The Louisiana State Urological Society, under various names, has been active since at least 1934, when the Louisiana group joined the American Urological Association. The earliest annual meeting records in the collection are from 1950. The Society's annual meetings are held in different locations around the state.
