Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists primarily of correspondence concerning Forrest C. Pendleton's employment by the United States Bureau of Investigation. There are telegrams, two letters from Senator John H. Bankhead, program for a dinner in honor of President-elect Harding, and a scrapbook of newspaper clippings about Pendleton's work for the Bureau.

Biographical Note

Forrest C. Pendleton (1881-1969) was the head of private investigating firm in New Orleans, Pendleton Detectives, which he founded in 1920. Previous to that, he was an agent of the United States Bureau of Investigation in New Orleans from 1913 to 1920.
