Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of programs, scrapbooks, clippings, cast lists, photographs, illustrations, correspondence, personal items, invitations, a manuscript score of Aida, playbills, and reviews pertaining to New Orleans musical and theatrical performances between 1843 and 1990. There are also music programs from places outside of New Orleans.

Biographical Note

Albert L. Voss (1888-1964) was a graduate of Tulane's College of Arts and Sciences (1911). He was an English instructor in Tulane's University College after World War II until 1963. He taught at Warren Easton High School for forty-two years. Voss also studied voice with Leon Ryder Maxwell, director of the Newcomb School of Music. He had two children, Hilda Mary Boudreaux and Albert L. Voss, Jr.
