Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of political photographs and negatives taken by Leon Trice, the majority of which date between the late 1920s and the 1930s. The photographs depict some of Louisiana's most famous twentieth-century elected officials in a variety of situations, including campaigning, at home with family, in staged settings, at work, and lying in repose. Among the political leaders featured are Huey P. Long, Earl K. Long, Richard Leche, and O.K. Allen. There are also a few prints from the Leon Trice Photography studio. The collection has been digitized and appears in the Louisiana Digital Library under the same collection title.

Biographical Note

Leon Trice was a New Orleans area photographer, active from 1920 to 1972. He worked for the New Orleans States newspaper and later for the Associated Press. He also ran his own studio at 219 Baronne Street, New Orleans.
