Historical Note: The Louisiana Historical Association was founded in 1889 to collect and disseminate information about the history of Louisiana. It was begun by the joining together of several Confederate veterans groups that wanted a common place to gather their historical materials. These materials were first held at the Howard Memorial Library near Lee Circle.
