Historical Note: The Artigues family of France and the Riecke family of Germany both became established New Orleans families. The first Artigues brothers came to escort a shipment of wine and stayed. The others followed via Cuba and Mexico. Alice Berthe Artigues married Henry Sebastian Riecke who developed Riecke Cabinet Works and was associated with the Tulane Lumber Company.
