Historical Note: Mrs. William J. Behan (née Kate Walker) is the wife of General William J. Behan, who fought with the Washington Artillery during the Civil War. Behan was also mayor of New Orleans (1882-1884). She was president of the Confederate Southern Memorial Association and the Ladies' Southern Memorial Association of New Orleans. She was also involved in the Jefferson Davis Monument Association of New Orleans as well as the Presbyterian Church in the Confederate States of America.
