Historical Note: Alice Moser Claudel (1914-1982) was married to Calvin Andre Claudel (1916-1988) and was the granddaughter of Thomas Hayes. She was a poet, teacher, and editor of the New Laurel Review, a poetry review serial, and was born and died in New Orleans. She had one son, William M. Rivera, by a first marriage. Calvin Andre Claudel was born in Avoyelles Parish and died in Baton Rouge. He was a professor of Romance languages and wrote about Louisiana folklore. Thomas Hayes was president of the Temperance Society in 1883 and preached at the Seaman's Bethel.
