Name: Allain, Helene d'Aquin.
Historical Note: Helene d'Aquin Allain (1833-1927) was born in Jamaica where her family had fled from the Saint Domingue revolution in 1791. She moved to New Orleans in 1836, but was educated in both New Orleans and Paris. She married Dr. Frederick Allain, who died of yellow fever. She lived most of her life in France. She wrote Souvenirs of America and France by a Creole in 1882.
