Historical Note: Bernardo de Gálvez (1746-1786) was governor or Louisiana (1777-1785) as well as a Spanish military leader. He led Spanish forces against the British Army during the Revolutionary War, defeating the British at Pensacola and reconquering Florida for Spain. For his efforts, he was made viceroy of New Spain.
