Historical Note: The Thibaut family was the owner of Elmfield, Palo Alto and Belle Terre Plantations in Napoleonville, Louisiana area. Josephine Elmina Thibaut, a member of the Thibaut family, entered Newcomb College on September 24, 1918 from the  Napoleonville, Louisiana High School and graduated on June 4, 1922 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. After graduation, she worked as a high school English teacher in Louisiana until she retired in 1937. J. Numa Thibaut, another member of the family, managed the family property from 1900s-1920s. His wife, Mrs Numa Thibaut was the second Vice President of United Daughter of the Confederacy, Kate Cabell Currie Chapter.
