William Beer papers, 1884-1927 | Louisiana Research Collection

Scope and Contents: The William Beer papers include correspondence, bibliographical notes, photographs, social organization ephemera and agendas.  The majority of Beer's correspondence deals with acquisitions for the Howard Library, but also contains correspondence with many well-known authors of New Orleans literature including George Washington Cable, Grace King, Charles Gayarre, Mary Ashley Townsend and Ruth McEnery Stuart.  The collection includes social organization ephemera from the many organizations in which he was involved.  Beer's many bibliographical notes concerning Louisiana also make up a portion of the collection.
