Scope and Contents: This collection contains the social and personal diary of Mary Folger who moved from New Orleans to Nantucket. This journal was written over the period from 1857-1862. There are also bound personal accounts pages dated 1865-1869. These mention the arrival of federal vessels on the Mississippi River in New Orleans in 1861. News articles and obituaries regarding the Allen, Paine, Fowler, and Folger families can be found in this collection. In addition, there are two bound volumes of typescripts about Eunice Macy Folger Mallet, daughter of Mary Folger. One volumes is a transcripton of her journal (1868-1872), which details a trip she took from with her mother from New Orleans to Nantucket. The second volume is a biography written by John Howard Kimzey.
