Minor family papers, 1764-1983 | Louisiana Research Collection

Scope and Contents: The collection is made up of personal and business correspondence of several generations of the Minor family of Natchez, Mississippi, and Houma and New Orleans, Louisiana. Much of the correspondence is that of John Duncan Minor (1876-1937), spanning 1905-1914. The correspondence primarily concerns the Rascon Manufacturing Company of San Luis Potosí, Mexico and Southdown Sugar Plantation in Houma, Louisiana. Other correspondents include William J. Minor (d. 1869) and Henry C. Minor (b. 1841). There are also letters and papers about Stephen Minor, Tobias Gibson, and Bernard Lintot.  Also included in the collection are slave records, land sale documents, photographs, financial records, obituaries, stock inventories, telegrams, reports, pamphlets, postcards, bills, receipts, blueprints, essays, and genealogical material.
