Prairie Parishes legal documents, 1788-1792 | Louisiana Research Collection

Scope and Contents: The collection consists of documents for the sale of land at Grand Prairie, Prairie Basse, and Petite Prairie, on Bayous Teche, Carencro, Caron, Chicot, Cataran, and Tortu. There are also slave sales documents, marriage contracts, a land survey, and one lease of cattle and a dairy. All the materials in the collection are in French and all but one have been notarized by Nicolas Forstall.
