Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection consists of Arthur William Hyland's papers accumulated while working for the New Orleans Cotton Exchange. Included in the collection are certificates, newspaper clippings, photographs, professional correspondence (1930-1964), programs, annual reports, publications on the cotton industry, a handbook on the charter and by-laws of the Cotton Exchange, a book on the history of the Cotton Exchange, membership lists, as well as speeches. Hyland served on numerous committees at the Cotton Exchange before being named to the Board in 1962.

Biographical Note

Arthur William Hyland was a member of the New Orleans Cotton Exchange during the mid-twentieth century. He served on numerous committees at the Cotton Exchange, including the Floor Committee, Committee on Futures, Committee on Information and Statistics, and Committee on Appeals, before being named to the Board in 1962.
