Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection includes correspondence (1940-1988), speeches, photographs, scrapbooks, programs, a pamphlet, and a prayer shawl. Nathan Cohen was a New Orleans sportswriter for the Times-Picayune and the Tulane University Hullabaloo. He was a member of the Congregation Beth Israel, as was his mother, Julie Pailet Cohen, whose plaques and comments to the Beth Israel Sisterhood are also included in the collection.

Biographical Note

Nathan Simon Cohen (1931-1993) was a New Orleans sportswriter for the Times-Picayune and the Tulane University Hullabaloo. He was a member of the Congregation Beth Israel, as was his mother, Julie Pailet Cohen. He was an advisor for B'nai B'rith for many years.
