Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of the minute books of the association from 1918 to 1928 and conference proceedings from 1936 to 1951. There also histories of the Mississippi Valley Association, scrapbooks of newspaper clippings about river flooding during the 1940s and 1950s; boxes of clippings about the Mississippi Valley Association and river matters during the 1950s and 1960s; and proceedings of the National Rivers and Harbors Congress from 1901 to 1928. In addition, the collection includes photographs, organizational newsletters, and writings on water transportation.

Biographical Note

The Mississippi Valley Association became Water Resources Associated. This in turn became the Wataer Resources Congress in 1971 as a result of the merger between Water Resources Associated and the National Rivers and Harbors Congress.
