Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of original and copied documents relating to the Morel and allied families, including the Walker, de Armas, and McCarty families. Also included are research notes by Vera Walker Morel, biographical notes, and certificates about her career as well as her genealogical research.

Biographical Note

The Morel family is a New Orleans family of French descent that can be dated to be being in New Orleans as early as 1812. The Morel family is connected to the de Armas family through the marriage of Pierre Louis Morel and Victorine de Armas in 1807. Vera Walker Morel did genealogical research on the Morel family and its allied families, including the Walker, de Armas, and McCarty families.
