Scope and Contents of the Materials

The collection consists of two photograph albums from the early twentieth century. The first one records a trip taken by Eugene H. Park, Assistant Inspector, Board of Local Inspectors of Steam Vessels, New Orleans, to the South Pass of the Mississippi River in 1901. The album was presented to a Captain Benjamin Michaels as a memento of the trip. The second album covers the first ceremony commemorating the death of the Unknown Soldier after World War I, 1921, November 11. It includes views of Washington, D.C., Boston, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Boston.
