Historical Note: Alice Caddy Burman (1896-1977) was an illustrator who collaborated with her husband, writer Ben Lucien Burman (1896-1984) on books depicting life on the Mississippi River. She was adept at depicting rural scenes from the 1930s. She is particularly noted for illustrating Ben Lucien Burman's novel, High Water at Catfish Bend.
