Name: Ewell, William P.


Historical Note: William P. Ewell (March 7, 1894-Aug. 8, 1932) of Opelousas, Louisiana, served in the United States Army in World War I as a Sergeant in the 324th Supply Company. During the war, the Army stationed Ewell first in France and then in Belgium. In peacetime, he remained in the Army, stationed again in Belgium, and occasionally returned home to his family in Opelousas. He contracted tuberculosis and died at the age of thirty-eight in a Veterans' hospital in Kansas. In letters, as well as military documents, he was often referred to as "Willie P. Ewell."
