Historical Note: The Nuhrah family was headed by Arthur George Nuhrah (1919-2001) and Yvonne Nuhrah (1923-2007). They had three children, Annette Spurling, Yvonne Burr, and George Nuhrah. Arthur Nuhrah completed his BA, MA and PhD at Tulane. He also served three years in the Army Medical Corps. Nuhrah was awarded the first Doctor of Philosophy degree in Tulane's History program (1950). Nuhrah worked as a Research Associate in Tulane University's History department through July 1954. Nuhrah was a scholar of both John McDonogh. Nuhrah also wrote a three-volume unpublished history of Tulane University. Nuhrah later taught at Lincoln Memorial University (Tennessee) and Gardner-Webb College (North Carolina)
