Historical Note: Dr. Hewitt Leonard Ballowe was a physician and folklorist from Buras and Diamond, Louisiana. He is most well known for the works Creole Folklore Tales and The Land Sayin' the Same. In 1948 Creole Folklore Tales was named by the Louisiana Library Association as the "most distinguished" Louisiana book of 1948.
