Name: Loëb, Harry Brunswick.

Historical Note: Harry Brunswick Loëb (1884-1957) was a native of New Orleans, the son of Samuel B. Loëb and Cecile Dreyfous. Both families were of French origin. His musical career spanned a variety of interests. He was general manager of the French Opera House in New Orleans until there was a fire there in 1919. Later, he occasionally wrote musical criticism for the Times-Picayune and the New Orleans Item, and became the New Orleans correspondent for the magazine, Musical America, dividing his time with the Harry B. Loeb Piano Company. He also composed popular songs, including one called "Beloved," which achieved some notoriety. With Corinne Mayer, he founded the New Orleans Philharmonic Symphony Society. He served on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Opera House Association.
