Name: Ogden, Frederick Nash.


Historical Note: Frederick Nash Ogden (1837-1886) led Ogden's Cavalry, also known as the 9th Louisiana Cavalry Regiment. He was a merchant in New Orleans after the war and married Laura B. Jackson in 1863. Ogden was president of the Crescent City Democratic Club and was a candidate for Louisiana governor in 1879 and 1883. He was also president of the Red Cross of Louisiana and vice-president of the Howard Association during the yellow fever epidemic of 1878. In 1884 he was the chief superintendent of the World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exposition.
