Name: Peters family.


Historical Note: The Peters family, originally from Canada, moved to New Orleans and played a large role in developing the public school system. The city honored the family and their contribution to the school system by naming a public school after Samuel Jarvis Peters. The family was also connected through marriage to the Lastrapes and LeMonnier families, two prominent New Orleans families.
