Historical Note: The Raynal family lived in Charleston, South Carolina. Jean Jacques Raynal was a French colonist in Santo Domingo who had a son, Pierre B. Raynal. Pierre Raynal wanted to liquidate his claim in Santo Domingo after the uprisings there and corresponded with Goujaud and Dumoustier, the directors of the office that settled claims.
