Name: Share, Nathaniel.

Historical Note: Nathaniel S. Share (d. 1974) served as the head of Congregation Gates of Prayer for over forty years. Born in Montreal, Canada, Share received his bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1931, a bachelor of Hebrew degree from Hebrew Union College in 1928, and a master of social work degree from Tulane University in 1959. He came to New Orleans in 1934 from a rabbinate in Bluefields, West Virginia, as a temporary replacement, but when the current leader was unable to return, he became the permanent successor. Share was awarded an honorary doctorate of divinity degree by the Hebrew Union College in 1958. He was married to Isabelle Burr and had a son, Jonnie B. Share.
