Historical Note: Olga Peters attended Newcomb College and earned a Bachelor of Design degree in 1920. In 1936 she earned a bachelor's degree in education and then a master's degree in 1940 from Tulane University. Her thesis was on ballet, which she had studied all her life. She later studied ceramics with Kenneth Smith and metalwork with Juanita Mauras. Peters taught art in Orleans Parish Schools from the time she graduated until 1964, then began designing for Carnival krewes, including costumes, scenery, as well as choreography.
