Historical Note: C.N. Bennett moved from Texas to Louisiana with her son and husband, Frank, during the mid nineteenth century. She lived in Cheneyville Bayou Boeuf, Louisiana, where her husband built a boat for use as a type of floating grocery store along the bayous of Louisiana. Her husband also played a role in the the Civil War as a member of the Southern Confederacy.
